Advancing Equitable Dual Enrollment in California

With growing support from school districts, community colleges, and state investments, now is a pivotal time to strengthen dual enrollment as a strategy for education equity in California. The educators and staff who guide high school students into college courses, whether counselors, dual enrollment coordinators, or college and career leads, play a vital role in expanding access.

To ensure dual enrollment reaches all students, especially Black, Latinx, and Native American students, EdTrust-West partnered with Career Ladders Project to create three Dual Enrollment Practitioner Guides. These resources support intentional coordination, recruitment, and counseling, and can be used individually or as a set.

Practitioner Guides:

  1. Guide 1: Mapping Your Team, Setting Goals, and Assessing the Dual Enrollment Experience
  2. Guide 2: Student Recruitment and Communication Strategies
  3. Guide 3: Reaching Students and Families: Conversations and Information Sessions
  4. Dual Enrollment Talking Points: These slides share brief talking points TK-12 educators and college practitioners can use to provide dual enrollment information to students and families.

Together, these guides help build inclusive, high-quality dual enrollment pathways across California.
