Our mission is built on strategic initiatives encompassing advocacy, professional development, and collaboration with educational leaders. This document includes resources and website links that illustrate specific mathematics strategies for teachers in the way the new Mathematics Framework calls for. Second in a series exploring English learner equity in California schools, a new report from EdTrust-West highlights how students learning English are faring in math classrooms across the state. Unlocking Learning II: Math as a Lever for English Learner Equity provides real-world examples of schools and districts closing gaps for California’s English learners. The report outlines four research-supported promising practices: honoring students’ backgrounds, providing access to rigorous courses, integrating English language development, and professional learning for teachers.

The California School Board Association’s resources for materials adoptions support school board members by clarifying stakeholders’ responsibilities at the local and state levels to support adoption processes.
Independent Reviews of Instructional Materials by CalCurriculum.
CalCurriculum tools support a sequential review process through three gateways. These gateways reflect the importance of alignment to the fundamental design elements of the standards alongside other high-quality attributes of curriculum, such as usability and design, as recommended by educators.
Guidelines for Improving Materials for Multilingual Learners by English Learners Success Forum.
These resources guide stakeholders in assessing the quality of current instructional materials for Science and Engineering, Math, and English Language Arts. The attached rubrics also allow stakeholders to evaluate where improvements could be made to instructional materials and can be leveraged to inform decision-making.

Review Tools by EdReports
