A new report from the nonprofit Education Trust-West reveals hundreds of millions of dollars in financial aid goes untapped by California students. Only about half of high school seniors who qualify for state and federal aid complete the applications. Education Trust-West executive director Arun Ramanathan says up to $17,000 in aid per student may be left on the table. What’s more, he says the money is not a loan – it’s grant money that never has to be repaid.
