Mariah joins the Education Trust–West with a range of experience in communications for social change and community engagement. With a passion for storytelling, visual design, and youth advocacy, Mariah contributes to ETW’s mission to advance education equity through a variety of communications efforts and digital advocacy strategies. As the first in her family to attend college, Mariah believes in the necessity of making resources both accessible and relevant for students and their families across backgrounds and lived experience. Prior to her current role, Mariah partnered with young people to develop media campaigns promoting health equity and inclusive school culture and policies at Youth Leadership Institute in San Francisco. After working with youth leaders in schools and community centers across San Francisco and Las Vegas, Mariah centers her work around elevating youth voice and advocating for institutions and practices that allow young folks to meet their full potential. Mariah holds a B.A. in American Studies from UC Berkeley, with an emphasis in Community Welfare and Social Policy. She also employs her creative and marketing talents through outlets designed to explore the intersections between popular culture and education.
