Research & Data Analyst
Before joining the Ed Trust–West team, José taught statistics as a Summer Bridge instructor while simultaneously working on his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri. His dissertation is focused on the relationship between state investment and the participation of underrepresented students of color in higher education systems. José has also published on Latino male achievement in high school math and on financial aid as a barrier to postsecondary participation. Prior to graduate school, José worked for five years as an Upward Bound and Gear Up coordinator at UC Irvine, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Social Behavior.
