Assistant Director of Communications
Jelena comes to ETW with a background in relationship-building roles in communications, advocacy and social work. A former youth worker, she points to her time mentoring and working with street-involved youth as an inspirational training ground for effective communications and storytelling. Jelena has held various communications roles throughout her career including writing for publications such as the Huffington Post, and has lectured in advocacy and communications. She also worked at Children Now, developing and implementing communication strategies to recruit supporters and engage them in advocacy campaigns. Jelena was born and raised in the Bay Area and then started her career in Seattle, working on civic engagement, education and housing issues with youth. Jelena earned her Master in Public Affairs degree at the University of San Francisco, where she focused on strategic communications and ethical coalition building for advocacy groups.
