Letter from Kati Haycock, President of The Education Trust

Dear Friends and Supporters:

As many of you know, Arun Ramanathan will shortly be stepping down from the post of Executive Director of The Education Trust——West (ETW) to become the CEO of Pivot Learning Partners. All of us in the Education Trust family thank Arun for his four years of dedicated service to our organization.  He has built a terrific team that has worked hard to improve opportunities for low-income students and students of color in California.  We wish him the very best in his new position.

As we begin the search for a new leader for ETW (see link below for announcement and position description), I am pleased to announce that Valerie Cuevas has agreed to step into the role of Interim Executive Director. An experienced administrator, Valerie has distinguished herself over the last four years as ETW’s Director of External Relations, helping to build ETW’s reputation in Sacramento and in communities across California. While Valerie has chosen not to apply for the Executive Director position, I am deeply grateful to her for taking on this leadership role in partnership with a strong leadership team. I have full faith in her ability to guide the organization forward during this transition period.

Since it was established thirteen years ago by founding Executive Director Russlynn Ali, The Education Trust——West has developed a national reputation for thoughtful policy analysis, ground-breaking research, and strong partnerships with equity-focused educators and communities, and as a fierce advocate for better outcomes for low-income students and students of color. I am extremely proud of the Education Trust——West team for their accomplishments and am excited to work closely with them during this transition to achieve the mission of The Education Trust.

Sincerely,

Kati Haycock
President
The Education Trust
