Statewide education policies significantly impact millions of students, families, and communities, influencing educational equity and justice. At Ed Trust–West, both legislative and budget advocacy are central to our mission. We employ diverse strategies, from assisting community members in connecting with elected officials to collaborating with state education leaders on policies that bolster educational equity.

Equity 8: Every spring, California lawmakers introduce educational reforms for its 10 million students, emphasizing support for students of color, low-income learners, and multilingual learners. The Education Trust–West annually selects the top eight of these initiatives that best promote equity and justice. Together with our team, we fervently track and advocate for their adoption.
